Rasmus Elm

I've recently been reading about a young Swedish midfielder called Rasmus Elm who plays in the Dutch Eredivisie, the reason being that Tottenham are supposedly keen to pick him up. I found that a few other clubs are also sniffing around, namely Manchester United and maybe Arsenal too.

If the bio page from ESPN Soccernet is accurate then Spurs MUST get this lad. It appears that in 12 league games for AZ Alkmaar he has scored 8 goals...... from 6 SHOTS?!?! Eh? Can someone tell me how this is possible? Did two of these goals ricochet in off his arse? Do accidental goals count as shots? If you pass the ball into the net, is this not considered a shot? I'm stumped.

This YouTube compilation seems to suggest that he's a dead-ball specialist who can get stuck in a bit, but the only goal I noticed that wasn't really a shot was one that drifted in direct from a corner. Could this be how he got his two 'no-shot' goals? I might be onto something..... All in all he's quite the other end of the spectrum to Suarez, Adebayor, et al, with regards to getting loads of chances but only converting a few (see previous blog entry).
